You already know Washington for its capital amusements and diversions. For its countless museums and architecture, yours to enjoy any time of year.
But if you havent seen the city during Cherry Blossom Festival, then you havent experienced Washington in full glory. Your best bet for this years festival weekends is March 28 and April 12. (BTW: Washingtons cherry trees are descended from a gift of 3,000 Sakuras Japan gave to Washington in 1912.)
When in Washington, stay at the Palomar
Hotel Palomar is definitely a favourite a luxury boutique hotel in Dupont Circle. Its sophisticated yet welcoming, for an unforgettable experience.
Carolyns picks
If you do book for the Cherry Blossom Festival (March 28 - April 12), be sure to pick up a festival map. Also
- Visit any of the city's superb museums. I recommend the National Museum of Natural History, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Air and Space Museum but there are many more. For something a little more offbeat, try the International Spy Museum in the Pennsylvania Quarter
- Head out to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal for a ride down this historic waterway
- And at night, take a cab to Georgetown for jazz at Blues Alley (but do have dinner elsewhere)
