Heal thyself
in Sicily
Our mystery resort on the coast of
ancient Sicily looks across the Mediterranean waters to the Aeolian Islands
(named for the god Aeolus keeper of the wind), a volcanic archipelago that
includes the small island of Vulcano.
Only 21 square kilometres in area,
the aptly-named Vulcano features several volcanic centres, including one of
just four active non-submarine volcanoes in Italy.
Vulcano offers picturesque beaches
and leisurely hikes (its just 499 meters above sea level) to the active
crater. But its biggest claim to fame is its mudbaths, to which the ancient
Romans were devoted for their healing properties.
Come
dip into the warm bubbling
waters and experience the therapeutic mineral properties. The Romans swore by
the waters ability to treat arthritis, skin diseases such as psoriasis,
fibromyalgia and many more. Best of all no prescription required!
